a decent read but the writer was not knowledgeable in mind of the timelines and organizations she had her hero part of. he was under 40 raised in Australia, played football at Tulane some where inherited a plantation deep in the swamp, was a highly decorated detective in NYC until 9/11 got his wife killed, then a drunk for a period of time followed by being in US Army Special forces and followed that with joining the US Navy and being a ball bouncing Seal...... then several years as a Detective in S. Louisiana. quite and unbelievable history for a guy under 40 from Australia.. just sayingProduct details

Not as good as Claire Morgan, but I would read another.
Good book
I went to high school with Linda Ladd and I have read all of her books
I really enjoyed the Claire Morgan series. I liked the character Will Novak and the story was interesting. The emotional angst of Novak and the losses he suffered made me tear up. I look forward to more books in this series.
The author is a personal friend of mine and I have loved all her books! Lots of suspense and drams, I sometimes look at her and wonder how that stuff is in her pretty head! Her books, including this one keep you reading way too late at night. I have read the entire Claire Morgan series and now this one from the Will Novak series, cannot wait for the next one!
I find it hard to believe this book has rave reviews! I'm about 90% finished and think I'll just skip to the last few pages. The main characters seem one-dimensional and predictable.-- descriptions of them are extremely repetitive and I'm surprised that an editor didn't eliminate some of the obvious stuff, e.g. "This wasn't good." after a description of something very obviously bad! The author seems to be trying too hard to sound tough by throwing in so many phrases like "hell of a..." and "damn good." The plot was pretty good but I prefer a faster-paced book.
